Flow Country Touring Exhibit
Visit the Flow Country touring exhibit in the Ferrycroft Visitor Centre from 28th March till the 31st October. This exhibition, which was produced as part of the Flows to the Future project, celebrates the peatlands of the Flow Country.
Lairg is one of the gateways to the Flow Country, so where better a place to give visitors and community members the opportunity to learn more about this very special place and plan their visit to one of the largest and globally rare blanket bogs in the world.
The Flow Country Exhibition includes a film produced by award winning Maramedia (who produced the BBC’s “Highlands – Scotland’s Wild Heart” TV series), fantastic imagery, an innovative 3D landscape model, an interactive game, and children’s activities such as jigsaws and dressing up costumes. The exhibit covers topics such as wildlife, research, restoration, heritage and culture.
The exhibition is free and can be found throughout the exhibition space in the centre. The Ferrycroft Centre is open Thursday – Monday 10am till 4pm, until the end of October. You will find a small shop, café and toilet facilities, including a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities, in the Centre.
We’ll be looking to set up the touring exhibit in further locations so keep an eye out for more dates and venues soon.

The exhibition was first produced as part of the Flows to the Future Project, a National Heritage Lottery Fund project which ran from 2014 to 2019. Throughout the project, large areas of blanket bog in the heart of the Flow Country were restored and the Flows Lookout Tower, Dubh Lochain Trail and Flow Country Field Centre were built.
The Flow Country Partnership includes Nature Scot, The Highland Council, RSPB Scotland, Highlands & Islands Enterprise, and The Environmental Research Institute (UHI).
