Strategic Environmental Assessment
The Flow Country World Heritage Site Draft Management Plan and Environmental Report
Content and purpose of the Draft Management Plan and Environmental Report
The Flow Country Partnership has prepared The Flow Country World Heritage Site Draft Management Plan as a formal requirement of both UNESCO and the UK Government, that outlines a Vision and Aims for the WHS over the coming years and indicates a range of policies setting out how those Aims, and other aspirations, will be achieved. It also outlines the reasons for designation and how the WHS is to be protected and managed.
The Highland Council, as the “Responsible Authority” on behalf of the Flow Country Partnership has prepared an accompanying Environmental Report, in accordance with the Strategic Environmental Assessment process under The Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005. The Strategic Environmental Assessment has been undertaken to identify, describe, and evaluate the likely significant environmental effects of implementing the Draft Management Plan and its reasonable alternatives. The Environmental Report sets out the findings of this assessment, including measures to prevent, reduce, and offset any significant adverse effects.
